About Vail Pet Partners

Vail Pet Partners was founded in 2005 by Vail residents, Sally Clair and Blondie Vucich.  The non-profit group is an affiliate of the national Pet Partners organization. Pet Partners (formerly The Delta Society), founded in 1977, is dedicated to improving human health, comfort and learning through the interaction with service and therapy animals.

There are over thirty certified Pet Partner Teams in the Vail Valley.   Vail Pet Partners presently visit the Patient Care Unit at the Vail Valley Medical Center and provides weekly interactions with guests at Jack’s House cancer care house.  The Vail Pet Partners’ Wagging Tales program offers a valuable R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program in local schools, partnering dogs with children to enhance and improve the reading experience for students of all ages. Empirical data suggests that reading fluency and reader confidence can be improved through the interaction with therapy dogs.  Eventually, Vail Pet Partners hopes to include the program with local hospice,  retirement homes and other opportunities around the Vail Valley.

Our Mission:

Vail Pet Partners is dedicated to bringing health, well-being and educational benefits through positive animal interactions via its animal-assisted therapy programs in area hospitals, schools and other organizations.
